Generation IV Parent
Annie was born near Fergus and, in 1898³, married Jacob McClanahan who had a hardware and tinsmith business at Belwood along with his brother Robert*. He farmed 200 acres, lot 9, con. 9, in Garafraxa Township with buildings on the 8th line.** In 1921³ they bought a 50 acre farm on the northeast edge of Palmerston.* As a point of interest, both the Royal Terrace Retirement Home and the Palmerston Hospital were later built on this farm.°
After Jacob's death, Annie lived on Henry Street in Palmerston and was a worker in the ladies groups of the United Church including the Women's Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Palmerston (Lawn) Bowling Club³.
They are both buried in McKee cemetery which is on the Fergus and Orangeville Road just south of Belwood.
